Cultural Performance - the Balinese Dances

   Gorgeous costumes and an array of eye, shoulder, hand, head, hip, and foot movements dazzle us.

No part of the costume or the dancer is wasted. Flowers jiggle. Balls swing.  Material sways. Eyes dart. Fingers part. And the feet arch and curl.

   With your own private guide spend an evening inland in Ubud, Bali's artistic heart. There's time to browse around the art galleries and craft shops and have dinner at one of the restaurants before watching one of the cultural performances listed on this page.

   Legong Dance: a selection of 5 or 6 short dances, usually including the dramatic Baris warrior dance. (Ubud & Peliatan dance troupes are particularly renowned  for these dances). Performances every Monday and Saturday.

   Ramayana Ballet: a classical dance reenacting part of the Indian Ramayana epic. Performances every Tuesday.

   Wayang Kulit: Shadow Puppet Show at Oka Kartini's. The Dalang puppeteer usually portrays the Indian epics over 8 to 10 hours, but this hour-long performance  shows you the delights.

   Performances every Sunday and Wednesday.
